Most countries of the world have adopted integrated plans to implement national biosecurity. For this, Regional Biosafety Authority (RBA) has been formed. International conventions on life safety are:
1. Cartagena Biosafety Protocol: The main objective of the Cartagena Biosafety Protocol is to ensure the safe use of GMOs worldwide. It involves creating a suitable environment for sustainable biodiversity and their conservation.
2. Basel Convention: The main objective of the Basel Convention is to regulate the generation, transport and safe management of hazardous waste worldwide. As a result, human health and environment will not be affected.
3. International Plant Protection Convention: The purpose of the International Plant Protection Convention is to protect native plants from the effects of GMOs and alien species.
4. WTO Agreements: Agreements on life safety under WTO are:
(i) Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures
(ii) Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade
(iii) Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights
