২০১০ সালের ১২ এপ্রিল রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রকৌশল অনুষদের এক্টের মাধ্যমে এটি যাত্রা শুরু করে। শুরুতে পাঁচটি বিভাগ নিয়ে অনুষদটি যাত্রা আরম্ভ করে। ২০১৫ সালের এর সাথে নতুন একটি বিভাগ চালু হয়। বর্তমানে এর অধীনে পাঁচটি বিভাগ রয়েছে। অনুষদের বর্তমান অধিকর্তা(ডীন) প্রফেসর আবু বকর মোহাম্মদ ইসমাইল পি. এইচ. ডি।২০১৮ সালের ডিসেম্বর মাসের ৬ তারিখে ফলিত পদার্থবিজ্ঞান ও ইলেক্ট্রনিক প্রকৌশল (এপিইই) বিভাগকে ইলেক্ট্রিক্যাল ও ইলেকট্রনিক প্রকৌশল (ইইই) বিভাগের সঙ্গে একীভূত করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কর্তৃপক্ষ। সিদ্ধান্তটি ২০১৮-১৯ শিক্ষাবর্ষ হতে কার্যকর করা হয়েছে।
